Day 1

(Recommended timings & procedure)
8:00-8.30am Make your own way and be at Kinabalu Park HQ. Self-register at Mountain Torq’s office with original passport & booking voucher. Make necessary payments of climb permits & insurance to relevant departments on the spot.
Hire your own mountain guide(s) and porter with Sabah Parks directly.
Self-arrange your own transport to Timpohon Gate.Bring your own packed lunch.
8:30-9.30am Start hiking up Mt Kinabalu from Timpohon Gate @ 1,866m.
3:00-4.00pm Arrive at Pendant Hut @ 3,289m and settle in.
3:30pm Attend the mandatory via ferrata familiarization in Pendant Hut and meet your Mountain Torq trainer.
6:00pm Dinner at Laban Rata’s canteen.
8:00pm Lights out.

Day 2

1:30am Wake up and early morning supper.
2:30am Start hiking up to the summit with your Sabah Parks’ mountain guide.
5:40am Catch the sunrise on Low’s Peak.
6:00am Descent from Low’s Peak to meet your Mountain Torq trainer.
7:15am Meet your via ferrata trainer at Sayat Sayat Hut @ 3,668m for your Walk the Torq via ferrata experience (introductory via ferrata, French grade PD).
9:30am Return to Pendant Hut for a well earned breakfast.
11:00am Check out of Pendant Hut and descent to Timpohon Gate with your Sabah Parks’ mountain guide. Arrive at Timpohon Gate (est. arrival 3 – 5pm). Self-arrange your own transport back to Kinabalu Park HQ. Collect your certificates.



  1. Climbers MUST present their original passports/IC for climb registration at Kinabalu Park HQ on the actual day of climb. Please bring it along with you.
  2. Climbers MUST attend the compulsory Via Ferrata briefing/training session in Pendant Hut between 3:00 to 4:00 pm (Latest Cut-off time) on 1st day of climb.
  3. Climbers MUST descend & arrive at starting point by 07:00 am (LPC) or 07:30 am (WTT) for each activity (Latest Cut-off time) on 2nd day of climb.
  4. All Via Ferrata activities will be conducted together in mix groups by qualified Mountain Torq Ferrata trainers.
  5. Climbers who fail to comply with the timing will not be able to proceed with the selected Via Ferrata activity. NO reimbursement shall be made.
  6. Via Ferrata activity can be cancelled due to bad weather for the safety of all climbers, NO reimbursement shall be made.
  7. If completed Climber details are not received 14 days before your arrival, an administration fee of up to RM100 per climber will be levied for changes and updates.
